Inspired by our missed encounter series we created a low pressure technological ways of talking to strangers, removing barriers such as social anxiety and encouraging users to strike conversations within they spaces they exist. Look up from your phone and connect.

“When was the last time you encountered someone but the let the moment slip away?”

For a year now we’ve collected people’s missed encounter stories and in exchange given them a physical love note to give to the next stranger they might want to connect with but doesn’t quite know how.

Cupe Bar Crawl 21+

Hopped from bar to bar in the lower east side. Co-ordinated meet up, and activities via the Cupe app. Sidequest captain (me) led the pack using a yellow rope (got everyone back home in one piece).

Cupe Box

Set up a private box in Washington Square Park, and paired up strangers to sit with one another and ask each other preselected questions.

Why? well we wanted to understand how easy or difficult people find connecting with strangers. Insight: people enjoyed it more than they thought.
